Roman Experience

What better way to understand an ancient civilisation than to meet in person one of the “individuals” who lived at that time.

When the classroom door opens and a representative of the Legion XIIII Germina Martia Ditriz appears in period costume, shouting “Salve”, all the pupils are captivated and captured.

The experience consisted of talking to him and learning everything from when Roman civilisation was formed to the weight of the shield carried by each soldier. The pupils touched, saw and used the real instruments of war that were used in those distant years and understood the inhuman effort that these soldiers made.

From this perspective the pupils can ground their learning and appreciate the passing of time, the different cultures and the marvellous historical imprint of our past.
