International Curriculum in Madrid
At Internacional Aravaca we offer an international curriculum designed to prepare students for an increasingly globalised world. Our school follows the standards of the International Baccalaureate (IB), an educational system that promotes international vision, critical thinking and solid academic preparation. Our approach fosters not only knowledge, but also language learning and other key skills for an international academic future.
Educational stages of the international education system
The educational programme at Aravaca International School is structured into three main stages, each adapted to the needs and characteristics of students at different stages of development: Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Early Years and Primary, Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Secondary, and the Diploma Programme (DP) for Baccalaureate.
Each stage seeks to accompany students in their academic and personal growth, helping them to develop to their full potential.
Primary Years Programme (PYP): Early Years and Primary

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for Early Years and Primary pupils from 3 to 12 years of age. At this stage, children are encouraged to develop an innate curiosity about the world around them. Through an inquiry-based approach, pupils are encouraged to ask questions, investigate and construct their own knowledge. In addition, PYP integrates values such as respect, collaboration and autonomy, which are key to children’s holistic development.
PYP offers transdisciplinary learning, where subjects relate to each other to give a global vision of knowledge. Students work on projects that span several disciplines, allowing them to connect concepts in a meaningful way. Our aim is for students to develop a solid foundation in knowledge and skills, while cultivating a love of learning.
Middle Years Programme (MYP): Secondary

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is aimed at Secondary students between the ages of 11 and 16, a key stage for personal and intellectual development. At Aravaca International School, the MYP is designed to accompany students through adolescence, helping them to find their place in the world and to acquire essential skills for the 21st century.
The Middle Years Programme in Secondary promotes open-mindedness and flexibility, inviting students to explore different perspectives and to understand the complexity of the world around them. Through interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking and the application of knowledge to real-world situations are encouraged. In addition, great importance is placed on social responsibility, encouraging students to actively participate in community projects that seek to improve the environment.
IB Diploma Programme: Baccalaureate

The Diploma Programme (DP) is the final stage of the international education system at Aravaca International School, aimed at students aged 16 to 18. This International Baccalaureate programme is recognised worldwide for its academic rigour and its ability to prepare students for success at university and beyond.
Our IB in Madrid offers a wide variety of subjects, which students can choose from according to their interests and future plans. In addition to academics, the programme includes the development of extracurricular activities in creativity, action and service, as well as the development of an in-depth research paper.
These experiences enrich the student’s education, developing skills such as critical thinking, autonomy in learning and social responsibility.

The advantages of the Spanish education system adapted to the International Baccalaureate
At Internacional Aravaca we combine the Spanish curriculum the International Baccalaureate (IB), developing an education of excellence, adapted to the needs of students who opt for international careers. This integration guarantees our students a complete education, combining the solid foundations of national education with the values and competencies of an international approach.
The IB focuses on the development of the whole student, fostering not only academic learning, but also essential skills such as critical thinking, creativity and autonomy. This process complements the Spanish curriculum, reinforcing students’ ability to analyse, reflect and apply knowledge in a practical way in their daily lives.
The global perspective provided by the IB broadens students’ academic and professional opportunities. Being internationally recognised, the programme facilitates access to prestigious universities around the world, and the strong focus on bilingualism produces global learners with an advanced command of English and an open mind towards other cultures. This translates into key preparation for their future academic and professional challenges.
