Every year the children in I4 participate in a Star of the Week Project. This year the boys and girls have enjoyed making their own books for our “Libro Cartonero” Project. Basically, the children have used recyclable materials (such as cardboard boxes, pieces of scrap paper, pieces of string etc.) and other materials accessible around their house to make a book with their family. Each child participates in the creation of his/her book by writing, by illustrating, by helping with the decoration of the pages, and by deciding what information he/she would like to include to share with the rest of the class.
Bookmaking creates an interest in reading and writing, and each child feels important when we look at the pages of his/her book. We have received many beautiful books from the children, and they will be exposed for our Book Day celebration!
