Let’s go to the Lunar Museum to complement our line of inquiry “The structure of the Solar System”.

On November 18th, the 2nd-grade students had an amazing experience visiting the Lunar Museum as part of their inquiry unit, particularly focusing on the line of inquiry: “The structure of the Solar System.” This field trip allowed them to dive deeper into the fascinating world of space travel, missions to other planets, and the daily life of astronauts.

During the visit, the students participated in an exciting guided activity where they explored the museum’s exhibits, learning about the key aspects of space exploration: from mission planning to the extreme conditions astronauts face. They also discovered how astronauts eat, stay protected, and remain healthy during their journeys into space.

One of the most impactful experiences was the 3D projection, which allowed the children to “travel” through our Solar System, visiting various planets and discovering their characteristics. This activity helped them visualize in a more tangible way the concepts they had been investigating in class, and gave them a better understanding of the structure and distances of the planets that make up our Solar System.

At the end of the visit, the students received a special souvenir: 3D glasses and a poster with detailed information about the planets, allowing them to bring home a piece of their space adventure. Through this activity, the children not only expanded their knowledge about space, but also developed key skills in research, reflection, and teamwork.
