Recycling – Motivational Activity for I3 Children

This month, the 3-year-old kicked off their new IB unit with a motivational activity focused on recycling. The day was filled with excitement, learning, and lots of fun, as the little ones not only learned about the importance of caring for the environment but also actively and creatively experienced recycling firsthand.

The students brought various recyclable materials from home, such as plastic bottles, cardboard, milk cartons, and cookie boxes, to explore how we can give them a new life in a practical way. The activity took place in a space filled with learning stations set up in Agora, where the children were free to move around and participate in various recycling-related activities.

Among the stations, the children had the opportunity to “clean the sea of trash” to save marine animals, an experience that helped them reflect on the impact of pollution. They also collected trash with shovels and trucks and transported it to recycling centers for proper disposal. Another station featured a fun game where they threw bottle caps at “garbage-eating monsters,” while in another corner, they were able to paint and draw on recycled materials.

Additionally, the little ones became true architects and builders, using the recycled items they brought from home to create castles, towers, and houses, stimulating their creativity and teamwork.

The activity was a complete success, filling the morning with laughter and learning for all of us. Without a doubt, this motivational experience will mark the beginning of an exciting journey of discovery about recycling and caring for the environment. What a great way to start their IB unit!
