Adaptation period, a challenging process for the little ones

During the month of September our little ones have started school; some have returned to their old school and others have started as new students at Internacional Aravaca. We know that this is an exciting and at the same time challenging time for them, as there are many mixed emotions: joy to see their teachers, to play with their friends, but at the same time anguish and sadness to be separated from mom and dad.

During these first weeks, their teachers have been working with dedication and a lot of love to help them feel comfortable and safe in their new environment. Through games, group activities and daily routines, we seek to foster trust and social interaction between them.

Part of the adjustment period involves feeling a bit insecure, so we encourage you, families, to talk a lot with your children during this process and encourage them to share their experiences and emotions with you. Your support and that of all of us is essential to achieve our greatest goal: that each of our children come to school happy.

Finally, the adaptation period culminates with the sending of the “Adaptation Reports” to the families of 2 and 3 year olds. These reports are made for each student in these grades and reflect the adaptation process during the first weeks of their incorporation to the school. They include the emotional adaptation process, social relations, performance in routines and activities, some observations made by their teachers… And, on some occasions, they will also include possible recommendations from the school to the families that support the development and learning of the student.
