4th ESO students as World War II reporters
As part of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate, the students of 4th ESO have carried out a project focused on the Second World War. Through this activity, they have not only deepened their knowledge of the historical aspects of the conflict, but also developed key skills such as research, communication, creativity and teamwork.
The project consisted of the creation of a historical news programme, where the students put themselves in the shoes of journalists of the time to report on the main events of the war. Divided into groups, each team covered one year of the conflict from the perspective of one of the main powers involved: Germany, France, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union. The videos, carefully produced and edited by the teams themselves, include a surprising variety of content: interviews, reports, weather forecasts, sports sections, economic analysis and speeches by historic leaders. All of this is accompanied by a great work of characterisation and setting.
This project has not only allowed students to understand the complexity of the conflict from different points of view, but has also enhanced fundamental 21st century learning skills. The experience of researching, scripting, recording and editing has been enriching and motivating, reflecting the spirit of active and reflective learning that the MYP promotes.
We would like to congratulate all the students for their dedication and enthusiasm, as well as to thank their families for their support during the process. We hope that, as you watch the videos, you can share in the pride and satisfaction of this collaborative work.
Sincerely yours,
Rafael Romero Bermejo
