With the Mavericks project we accompany the pupils in this new stage of their lives, “adolescence”, making us participants in the changes and concerns that are representative of this age group.
From an academic point of view, we consolidate the habits of study, effort and self-improvement, thus preparing them for their incorporation into further studies. We understand working with pupils from the point of view of motivation, emotion and curiosity. They are the ones who accept the challenge of learning, cooperative work and the search for solutions to find answers. We make them aware of the importance of their participation in the society to which they belong, so that they themselves can improve it.
Possibility of taking the US High School Diploma from 2nd year of secondary school to 1st year of high school in addition.
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate is an educational programme for students aged 11 to 16 that emphasises intellectual challenge and encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP aims to develop young people who take an active role in their learning and are internationally minded. As a result, young people become creative, critical and reflective thinkers”.
In the 2020/21 academic year, we began the implementation of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate in 1st ESO and have obtained authorisation this year 22-23. IB schools are schools that share a common philosophy: a commitment to rigorous, quality international education, which is a fundamental pillar of our school.
The MYP offers an interdisciplinary and conceptual curriculum framework, centred on 8 subject clusters and with rigorous assessment criteria, consistently applied around the world. It builds on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and prepares students to meet the academic challenges of the IB Diploma Programme (DP). Ultimately, it helps prepare students for higher education, the labour market and a lifetime of lifelong learning.
The MYP is designed to help students develop the characteristics of the IB learning community profile. It offers students the opportunity to develop their potential, explore their own learning preferences, take appropriate risks, develop a deep sense of their personal identity and reflect on it. At a stage when students are establishing their identity and developing their self-esteem, the MYP can motivate them and help them to succeed in school and in life outside the classroom.
Students learn best when their learning experiences have context and are related to their lives and their experience of the world they know. The use of global contexts allows MYP students to come to understand the condition that unites them as human beings and their shared responsibility to care for the planet.
