Latest news in Ecoschool

During the month of March, Ecoescuela has been present in numerous educational stages, especially in secondary schools. Various activities and work related to responsible water consumption have been carried out.

In 4th ESO, students worked in the subject of Economics studying water consumption and drought in Spain, as well as proposing solutions. As part of this project, they produced a poster and a reflection on their research.

In the tutoring class on 17 March, the 4th ESO students presented their posters to the rest of the secondary school, highlighting the importance of responsible water consumption. From these presentations, each class created posters with proposals for improving water use.

In addition, all secondary school students carried out an activity at home with their families, taking what they had learned beyond the classroom. In this task, they made an estimate of water consumption in their homes. Then, in class, they compared the results and reflected on possible improvements.

However, Ecoescuela’s involvement was not limited to secondary school. In Verdia, various activities were carried out to raise awareness about water consumption. Students in 6th grade EPO took part in a meme contest, in which the main theme was water consumption. The 5th grade students worked on a project on the interaction between geographical features and rainfall.

In addition, an awareness week was organised throughout primary school. During the last few weeks, the pupils left the playground very dirty after snack, so a measure was implemented: for one week, they had to eat in a line and reflect on the misuse of litter. This activity made the pupils aware of their behaviour and, as a result, the change was immediate.

Ecoescuela has also been present in infants. The Ecosuperheroes returned to the assembly to tell a story about two drops of water, in which one of them was sick due to the irresponsible use of water.

At the entrance of the school, briks were set up to show the educational community how much water is consumed when showering and brushing teeth. This visual representation helped to raise awareness of the importance of reducing water consumption.

Last but not least, the Eco-school committee held its quarterly assembly with the participation of parents, teachers and school staff. During the meeting, the achievements of the quarter were analysed and new goals were set to be implemented in the coming months.
