Jaime Lorente visits Internacional Aravaca. Inspiration, Cinema, and Perseverance

At Internacional Aravaca, we believe in learning through real experiences, and this week, our Filmmakers students had the incredible opportunity to meet Jaime Lorente, renowned for his roles in La Casa de Papel, Cristo y Rey, Élite, and movies like Tin&Tina, 42 segundos, and Disco Ibiza Locomía.

During his visit, Jaime shared his journey in the film and television industry, offering a close and realistic insight into what it means to be an actor. He explained how, before achieving success, he went through a tough phase, facing over 75 rejections in auditions and being told that his appearance was “too unusual”. Instead of giving up, he used these challenges as motivation to push forward, proving that perseverance is the key to any career.

Jaime moved to Madrid with his theatre company with no intention of becoming famous in cinema. Yet, fate had other plans. Today, he is one of the most well-known Spanish-speaking actors, though he remains humble and grateful. He also admitted that he dreads the idea of his daughter becoming an actress, as she already shows signs of having that passion.

The Importance of Training and Teamwork

One of the most valuable lessons Jaime shared was the importance of training in acting. He explained that being an actor is not just about memorizing lines but also about understanding the value of the entire production team—directors, technicians, screenwriters, and fellow actors. Appreciating every role in the industry helps an actor grow and respect the creative process.

Our students made the most of the opportunity, asking specific and insightful questions about the film industry, character preparation, and the challenges of the profession. It was a rewarding experience, showing them that success is not a straight path but rather a combination of hard work, learning, and perseverance.

A Testimony That Changes Lives

One of the most touching moments of the talk was when Jaime shared the story of a La Casa de Papel fan who, struggling with family issues and addiction, found inspiration in his character to join a rehabilitation program and turn his life around. For Jaime, these experiences remind him of the profound impact that art can have on people’s lives.

To conclude, he left a powerful message: “There will always be people who try to have power over you, but that is their issue. What truly matters is that you believe in yourself and never let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams.”

At Internacional Aravaca, we continue to foster inspiring experiences like this, encouraging our students to dream big and understand that success is built on resilience, learning, and determination.

Thank you, Jaime, for sharing your journey and leaving us with this invaluable life lesson!
