Gaia: la montaña sostenible

Our 4-year-old students visited Gaia: la montaña sostenible to wrap up their IB unit, whose central idea is “Citizens play a role in the community”.

They had the opportunity to enrol in two activities: first, “Professions”, which helped them to recap the learning fostered at school, focusing on the tools and transportation each professional uses as well as making connections and comprehending the jobs function in our community. Second, “When I grow up, I want to be an explorer”, aimed to transform our students into explorers who observed the characteristics of animal species, raising curiosity and respect for the environment.

This field trip also showed the improvements in children’s development of the Learner Profile we focused on in this unit: they have mastered their Knowledgeable regarding professions, they have been extremely Good Communicators when it came to describing the different jobs, and have demonstrated to be Caring towards other’s community workers and the environment.

We are proud of their journey through this first IB unit in the 4-year-old class!
