Sensory Activity I2: Car Wash
The I2 students have taken advantage of working on the topic of land transportation to have a great time at the car wash. This sensory activity is not only a lot of fun, but it also helps us work on several very important aspects at this stage, such as the development of the senses, motor skills, and the acquisition of good habits like hygiene.
On one hand, the students have been able to explore and experiment with different textures during the wash; starting with the “mud,” which has a chunky texture, followed by the foam they managed to create by squeezing the sponges, warm water to rinse the vehicles, and finally, the cloths to dry them before playing with them again in class.
But it also provided an opportunity to talk in class about how important hygiene is, washing hands properly to stay clean, and the steps that need to be followed: lathering and scrubbing, rinsing, and finally drying.
