2ndEPO – Autonomous Communities Fair
The 2nd Primary pupils, for their part, have investigated the transdisciplinary theme ‘Where we are in time and space’, exploring the central idea: ‘the place of development of human beings determines the way of life’.
Throughout the unit, we have placed special emphasis on the line of enquiry on ‘the appreciation of our culture’, exploring typical Spanish instruments, participating in a Sevillanas workshop and celebrating the ‘Burial of the Sardine’, one of our most popular traditions. These moments have been very important for the children to get to know our customs and feel part of them.
In addition, in their research on the Autonomous Communities of Spain, the pupils have delved into their culture, gastronomy, famous people and other interesting aspects. The research culminated in a great FERIA DE LAS CCAA, in which they proved to be great communicators and enthusiastically shared the most curious facts they had learnt about each Community.
In addition to all this research work, which was their summative assessment of the unit, the students were visited by their 5th grade classmates, who had as part of their ‘taking action’ to carry out an action that would have a positive impact on the community. They came to the 2nd grade classes with a checklist and were to measure each team’s level of preparation for the fair. It was a very enriching experience for everyone and we would like to thank them for the constructive feedback.
It has been an amazing job in which the children have not only learned about geography and culture, but have also developed a deep appreciation for our traditions. We are very proud of all of them! Congratulations!
