DEEP SPACE COMMUNICATIONS COMPLEX

Last Friday, the students of 1º ESO visited the Madrid Deep Space Communications Complex in Robledo de Chavela. This complex is one of three NASA Deep Space Network complexes in the world; the others are the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex located in California, near the city of Barstow, and the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex in Australia which is close to the city of Canberra.

During the visit, we learnt about how astronauts live in the Space and the different missions that the complex controls. We also watched a presentation about the Curiosity, the mission sent to Mars. Our students showed a real talent for building water rockets and they threw 6 rockets that reached 20 meters high.
